Description
On the warm slopes of Turckheim, where the sun faces legends of vanquished dragons, Zind Humbrecht Riesling Brand Grand Cru is born. This vineyard, known since the Middle Ages, sits on granite and black mica soils, with deep fissures where mineral-laden clays accumulate. Only the roots of old vines - cultivated according to biodynamic principles - manage to reach this hidden richness. The Zind-Humbrecht family, an absolute reference in Alsace, understands the Brand Grand Cru as a melting pot of ancient fire and viticultural precision. The warmth of the terroir, combined with its south-southeast orientation, gives the vineyard an early maturity without losing tension.
Winemaking
The vinification process of Zind Humbrecht Riesling Brand Grand Cru follows the rhythms of the wine, not the clock. The grapes are pressed slowly, gently extracting all their aromatic expression. The must is processed with minimal intervention: no aggressive fining, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and malolactic fermentation takes place naturally. The wine rests for 18 months on its lees in old French oak casks, without batonnage, to preserve its purity and structure.
Taste
Zind Humbrecht Riesling Brand Grand Cru is a lesson in minerality. On the nose, it displays notes of lime zest, white flower and quince, followed by a stony, almost smoky background. When oxygenated, ripe fruit emerges: pear, pink grapefruit, a touch of bergamot. On the palate, the texture is dense, almost tactile, but enveloped in an electric acidity. The wine vibrates with restrained energy: salinity, tension, precision. The finish is long, dry and spicy, with echoes of green tea, ginger and hot stone. It is a wine that speaks of the subsoil, of history and of time. A profound Riesling, where myth and science intertwine under each sip.
