Some names describe a property, whilst others encapsulate an entire family history. Domaine Rossignol Trapet belongs to the latter category. It brings together two long-established Burgundian winegrowing families : the Rossignols, with ties to Volnay, and the Trapets, deeply rooted in Gevrey Chambertin. The marriage of Jacques Rossignol and Mado Trapet brought these two traditions together, and the subsequent division of the historic estate gave rise to the current domaine, run by brothers Nicolas and David Rossignol-Trapet.

But here, heritage has never been a static concept. The brothers inherited exceptional plots and realised that preserving them required more than simply repeating old methods. They had to listen to the land once more, restore its vitality and allow each climate in Burgundy to express its own identity.

Gevrey Chambertin: a balance of power and elegance

Gevrey Chambertin is often associated with deep, structured and long-lived wines. However, at its finest, it can also be delicate, luminous and surprisingly light. That balance between authority and finesse defines the Rossignol-Trapet style.

The estate comprises vineyards in Burgundy situated in Gevrey Chambertin, Beaune and Savigny-lès-Beaune, with a range extending from regional and commune wines to premier crus of remarkable precision and three legendary Burgundy grands crus: Chapelle-Chambertin, Latricières-Chambertin and Chambertin.

Chapelle-Chambertin displays the most enveloping character, with seductive fruit, a polished texture and serene depth. Latricières-Chambertin is more mineral, vertical and austere, built upon a cool, silent energy. Chambertin, for its part, combines density, length and monumental authority, always underpinned by freshness and elegance.
