Description

On the slopes of Santenay, south of the Côte de Beaune, there is a plot that seems to calmly watch the passage of time: Le Beauregard, just above the coveted "Les Gravières". Here, the roots of the vines - over 45 years old - sink into a gravelly limestone soil, searching for the mineral soul that is then clearly expressed in each bottle. The Vincent Girardin family, a staunch defender of the balance between tradition and precision, works these lands with absolute respect for the environment, guided by a clear idea: the wine must be the purest echo of the place where it is born. It is no coincidence that the grape of choice is Pinot Noir, the region's emblematic variety, capable of capturing the character of the terroir like few others. In these unique conditions, this grape variety unfolds all its elegance, subtlety and complexity, giving rise to an expression deeply linked to the soil and climate of Santenay.

Winemaking

Vincent Girardin Santenay 1er Cru Le Beauregard is harvested by hand, with a meticulous double selection of the bunches - in the vineyard and on the sorting table - to ensure impeccable raw material. Depending on the vintage, a small portion of whole grape harvest is incorporated. The wine begins with a cold maceration that intensifies aromas and colour. Then, during fermentation, gentle pumping over and punching down are applied to extract the best of the Pinot Noir. After pressing, the wine is transferred to oak barrels (30% new), where it rests and evolves for 14 months, with malolactic fermentation occurring naturally. Before bottling, the wine is blended and very lightly filtered, maintaining all the purity of the wine.

Taste

On the nose, Vincent Girardin Santenay 1er Cru Le Beauregard unfolds with precise notes of ripe cherry, raspberry and redcurrant, accompanied by a subtle echo of undergrowth and sweet spices. On the palate, its balance is surprising: round tannins, firm structure and a vibrant freshness that lightens its intensity. As it evolves, hints of damp earth, black tea and a delicate smokiness appear. The finish is long, elegant, with a mineral reminiscence that invites further drinking. A wine designed to accompany grilled meats, venison or cheeses with character.
