Description
Philippe Brand La Mandoline is a white wine made in the Alsace region of France by the Brand & Fils winery. This cuvée is a blend of several white varieties including Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Muscat, Sylvaner, Pinot Gris (with skin contact) and a touch of Gewürztraminer. The grapes come from plots located in the Kefferberg vineyard, characterised by clay and limestone soils, which bring complexity and minerality to the wine.
Winemaking
Philippe Brand's philosophy is to produce wines that capture the life of the grapes, respecting the natural processes. Brand has learned and perfected his technique in places like Burgundy and Australia, and works with biodynamic and organic methods. The Pinot Gris undergoes skin maceration, while the other varieties are pressed directly. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts and the wine is aged for 36 months in oak vats, without filtration or the addition of sulphites.
Taste
On the palate, Philippe Brand La Mandoline is a dry but floral wine, with a superb tension between acidity and fruit ripeness, giving it an exquisite balance. On the finish, a saline note adds freshness and depth. This wine is complex and elegant, offering layers of flavours that include white fruits, floral notes and a subtle minerality that reflects the character of the Alsatian terroir. It is a versatile wine that pairs perfectly with dishes such as fish, seafood and poultry.
