Description
La Table des Rois, produced by Philippe Brand at Domaine Brand & Fils, is a 100% Pinot Noir wine from Alsace, France. This family winery was founded in 1953 and is currently focusing on biodynamic viticulture under the direction of Philippe, who continues the tradition started by his father Charles Brand. The vineyards, located in the "Côteaux du Kefferberg", have clay-limestone soils, ideal for the production of high quality wines. The vines, which are 35 years old, benefit from careful management, with ploughing twice a year and spontaneous grazing in part of the rows.
Winemaking
In terms of winemaking, Philippe Brand La Table des Rois undergoes a12 to 15 day macerationwith whole , unstemmedgrapes , which enhances the natural aromas and flavours of the Pinot Noir. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, and ageing takes place for 8 months in three and four-use oak barrels, without the addition of sulphites or other oenological products.
Taste
Philippe Brand La Table des Rois stands out for its fruity character and balanced acidity. The nose and palate are dominated by notes of blackcurrant and fruits of the forest, which are integrated with a smooth texture and a marked freshness. This Pinot Noir has a profile that moves away from the typical wines of this variety in Alsace, showing greater complexity thanks to its natural vinification. In addition, its structure offers light, granular tannins, providing a lingering but well-balanced finish. It is a wine that is recommended to be served slightly chilled, perfect to accompany grilled meats or strong cheeses.
