Description
Muster Sgaminegg wine comes from vineyards that are 40 years old. Its name, "Sgaminegg", is an old Slavic term referring to the stony soil of the region. The vines of this wine are rooted in pure Opok, a soil composed of rocky limestone and clayey silt. This geological particularity, together with its elevated location and the influence of the cool winds from the nearby Koralpe Mountains, gives this wine a unique personality and aromatic complexity.
Winemaking
The varieties that make up this wine are Sauvignon blanc and Morillon.
The grapes are harvested by hand and destemmed before being fermented in 1,200 litre wooden vats with indigenous yeasts. The wine is then transferred to 225-litre barrels where it ages for 23 months. It is bottled without fining or filtering and without adding sulphur, thus respecting its purest essence.
Taste
Muster Sgaminegg is a true "Grand Cru" experience. Its taste is an amalgam of sensations: mineral, fresh, layered and lush. On the palate, there are notes of fresh apple, ripe stone fruit and hints of exotic fruits. Its clarity is comparable to that of a mountain spring, with wet stone nuances and an abundance of minerals. Its elegance is undeniable and its finish is endless, making it one of the best natural wines you can taste.
