Description
Muster Gräfin orange wine is an authentic expression of winemaking tradition, whose name evokes the elegance and distinction of German nobility, as "Gräfin" means countess in German.
This wine comes from vineyards with an average age of 30 years, which guarantees the maturity and depth of the grapes used in its production. The soil in which these grapes grow is known as Opok, a combination of limestone and clayey silt, which gives the wine its unique characteristics.
Winemaking
The grape variety used for Muster Gräfin is Sauvignon Blanc, a variety known for its freshness and versatility.
The grapes are harvested by hand and partially destemmed. Fermentation takes place in 2,400 litre wooden vats with indigenous yeasts. The grapes macerate with their skins for 2 to 4 weeks, after which time they are transferred to 2,400 and 1,200 litre oval wooden vats for ageing, which lasts approximately 23 months. It is important to note that this wine is bottled without fining or filtering and no sulphur is added.
Taste
Muster Gräfin is a wine that surprises and delights those who taste it. Its personality combines the characteristic edge of Sauvignon Blanc with the roundness of maceration. It is beautifully balanced between lush fruit, smoky and herbal notes, and an acidic backbone. It is a perfect wine for pairing, offering a wide range of flavours to play with. It has a golden-orange colour and the nose offers aromas of baked apple, peach and a hint of cinnamon. On the palate, notes of oak, tobacco and grapefruit stand out.
