Description

In Pfaffenheim, a serene corner of wine-growing Alsace, Jean-François Ginglinger makes wines like someone who writes with invisible ink: without fuss, but leaving his mark. Heir to a long family tradition, he has been committed to biodynamic agriculture from an early age, seeking not only purity, but truth in every bottle. In the 2000s he took a radical decision: to eliminate the systematic use of sulphites and to renounce Grand Cru classifications if they limited his expressive freedom. From this spirit Ginglinger Pinot Blanc Réserve was born, a dry white wine from Alsace without make-up, which faithfully reflects its origin: calcareous soils with fine sandy streaks, under a temperate continental climate.

Winemaking

Harvesting is carried out by hand in small crates to preserve the fruit. After gentle pressing, the must that will give life to Ginglinger Pinot Blanc Réserve is fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Ginglinger does not clarify, hardly filters, and reduces intervention to a minimum. Ageing on fine lees for a few months allows the wine to gain texture and depth without losing freshness. Bottling, without added sulphites or in minimal doses, aims to preserve the purest expression of the terroir.

Taste

Ginglinger Pinot Blanc Réserve opens with a clean, austere and precise profile. Notes of green apple, white pear and tense citrus fruits such as lime and lemon appear. The nose is discreet but elegant, with a background of chalky minerality and a herbal whisper, like tea leaf and raw almond. On the palate, it is surprisingly dry, with vibrant acidity defining its backbone. Fluid but firm, taut but harmonious, with a refreshing finish where echoes of white fruit and wet stone reappear.
