Description

Few wineries in Alsace interpret their terroir as faithfully and with as much character as Domaine Zind Humbrecht. With family roots dating back to the 17th century, the winery has become synonymous with biodynamic viticulture and oenological precision under the direction of Olivier Humbrecht, France's first Master of Wine. Zind Humbrecht Muscat Turckheim comes from vines located on alluvial soils of gravel and silt, on the warm plains surrounding the winery, bordering the Herrenweg area. These are sun-drenched plots, where the Muscat Petits Grains (in its white and red versions) reaches optimum skin ripeness without losing freshness. This variety, more resistant to heat and drought, offers a dry, vibrant and deeply varietal expression, far from the sweet versions that usually dominate the category.

Winemaking

Hand harvesting ensures meticulous selection of the bunches, which are then gently pressed. Fermentation takes place spontaneously, with indigenous yeasts, in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged briefly on fine lees, without bâtonnage, which preserves its aromatic clarity and dry profile. Lightly filtered before bottling, the result is a Zind Humbrecht Muscat Turckheim without residual sugar, with a direct and crystalline expression.

Taste

On the nose, Zind Humbrecht Muscat Turckheim is floral and expressive, with crisp notes of orange blossom, jasmine and fresh grape. A subtle nuance of wild mint adds freshness and depth, steering clear of any aromatic excess. On the palate, the entry is precise and light, with a lively acidity that structures the wine without imposing itself. The finish is dry and persistent, with citrus echoes, withered petals and a subtle minerality that speaks of the stony soil in which it was born. It is an uncompromising wine, ideal as an aperitif, with summer salads or light Asian cuisine. A pure and refined interpretation of Muscat, for those who seek authenticity and tension without renouncing pleasure.
