Description
Susana Esteban Tira o Véu is a white wine from an 85 year old vineyard located in the Serra de São Mamede and is a blend of traditional grape varieties.
Winemaking
Its vinification process is unique: it was fermented in Amphora with 30% contact with the skins. In December of the same year, the skins were removed and the wine was returned to the Amphora to round the tannins. During the spring of the following year, a veil of flor formed on the surface, a rare phenomenon that is typical of sherries. It remained in contact with this veil until the date of bottling, which, together with the contact with the skin, gives it a distinctive taste and aroma.
Taste
Tira o Véu has a citrus appearance and exuberant floral aromas. Its density and provocation are remarkable, and its striking tannins reveal the age of its vines. The wine has a long, lingering finish, leaving a lasting impression on the palate.
It is ideal with medium-cooked stewed fish, spicy red meats and stews.
