Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
No 2018 were produced, so from the 2017, we jumped to the red 2019 Procura Tinto, a 50/50 blend of Alicante Bouschet and the classical old-vine field blend from the São Mamede Mountains (Trincadeira Preta, Aragonez, Grand Noir, Alicante Bouschet, etc.), fermented and matured separately. The wine has good ripeness and 14.5% alcohol, which is higher because of the ripeness of the Alicante Bouschet that she harvests quite ripe in order to avoid the herbal character of the grape she doesn't like. This is powerful and concentrated, with a medium to full-bodied palate and plenty of tannins. It needs time and/or powerful food. 5,200 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2021.

Description
Susana Esteban Procura Vinhas Velhas Tinto is a red wine that is the result of a meticulous selection of grapes and a passionate dedication to winemaking. The varieties that make up this wine are Alicante Bouschet and traditional varietals from São Mame.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand, using 20kg boxes, followed by a rigorous selection in the winery. Fermentation is carried out in small stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Subsequently, the wine is aged for 14 months in French oak barrels. Of these barrels, 30% are new and 70% have been previously used for one year.
Taste
Procura Tinto has a dark red colour. On the nose, it is fruity and intense, but without traces of over-ripeness. Intriguing notes of tobacco leaves, pencil lead and a powerful mineral sensation stand out. These characteristics combine with a light vegetal sensation that adds tension and complexity to the wine. On the palate, it is powerful but sharp, austere but still delicate in tannins, and finishes with a fresh and vigorous flavour.
