Description
Karnage Kroseille is a rare collaboration between Charles Dagand and Stéphane Planche in the Jura region of France. The wine is made from 100% Grenache Noir, grapes sourced from vigneron Gerald Oustric of Domaine Mazel, located in Valvigniere (Ardeche), in the Rhone region.
Winemaking
50% direct pressing, 25% destemmed and 25% whole cluster. After 15 days of maceration, it is pressed and fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks, culminating in its bottling in November 2020. With a limited production of 1,600 bottles, this wine does not contain added sulphites.
Taste
Karnage Kroseille is a vigorous and fruity expression of Grenache, evoking the sensation of drinking fresh fruit juice. Lively notes of blueberry and redcurrant mingle with nuances of fresh apple, mint, lemongrass and a hint of yeasty rice from its sediment. Despite its light body, it has remarkable volume and refreshing acidity. It is important to note that its profile deviates from traditional wine standards, which can polarise opinions: either you love it or you don't like it.
