Description
Clos Lentiscus Night Potion was born out of an almost mystical concern: to capture the purest energy of the Xarel.lo grape and let it express itself without concessions. In the heart of the Penedès, on the chalky and stony soils of the Garraf Massif, the family produces this orange wine under strict biodynamic principles. Surrounded by Mediterranean forest, the vines breathe in the sea breeze and absorb the white minerality of the bedrock, giving rise to a wine with a strong territorial identity.
The philosophy behind Clos Lentiscus Night Potion is clear: minimum intervention, maximum expression. The idea of prolonging the maceration with skins was born as a courageous act to explore the structural depth of the variety. The result is an authentic natural wine, honest and without artifice, which speaks directly to the Garraf landscape.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand, selecting perfectly healthy bunches. Fermentation starts spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, without additives or corrections. The must spends around 30 days macerating on skins, extracting colour, texture and character. This approach defines the unmistakable style of Clos Lentiscus Night Potion, intensifying its structure and aromatic depth. The wine is then aged for approximately 10 months in clay amphorae, where natural micro-oxygenation refines its profile and enhances its complexity.
It is not clarified or filtered before bottling, preserving all its energy and authenticity. This process positions Clos Lentiscus Night Potion as a reference within the biodynamic and low intervention wine movement in Spain.
Taste
In the glass, Clos Lentiscus Night Potion has a deep, bright amber colour. The nose displays notes of orange peel, dried apricot and baked apple, accompanied by Mediterranean herbal nuances and a markedly mineral background. The palate is dry, vibrant and structured. The acidity tightens the whole and the tannins, fine but present, provide a slightly tannic texture reminiscent of a delicate infusion.
