Description
Terra Remota Caminante was founded in the Alt Empordà with a very clear vision: not to produce an obvious white wine, but one that speaks of the landscape rather than the technique. Marc and Emma Bournazeau reclaimed this corner of granite soils, swept by the tramontana wind and bathed in a dry, almost piercing light, to develop a precision-driven, organic viticulture deeply rooted in the terroir. Here, the aim is not tropical exuberance or gentle sweetness, but rather tension, minerality, freshness and a very distinct identity. The blend of Garnacha Blanca, Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc fits this vision with admirable naturalness: Mediterranean at its core, yet refined by the wind, the altitude and the granite.
Winemaking
The production of Terra Remota Caminante begins with a hand-harvest into small crates and a rigorous selection process as soon as the grapes arrive. After a cold soak, the must is obtained through gentle pneumatic pressing to preserve purity and finesse. Fermentation begins in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and is partially completed in French oak barrels, where the wine remains for around six months. This is followed by ageing on fine lees, which broadens the texture and adds depth without detracting from the wine’s verticality. This is not a wine dominated by oak; the ageing process serves to enhance the structure, never to mask it.
Flavour
On the nose, Terra Remota Caminanteopens with a very noble restraint: white fruit, delicate citrus, dried flowers, a hint of barely crisp peach and, beneath it all, that ever-present sensation of warm rock, Mediterranean herbs and fresh almond. Nothing exuberant, nothing loud. On the palate, it enters straight away, salty, with a very measured creamy texture and an acidity that propels the wine forward like a backbone. Minerality, freshness and tension take the lead, whilst the fruit remains in the background, refined and elegant. The finish leaves echoes of lemon zest, soft toasted bread and a stony, long and dry sensation. A white wine from the Empordà with character, edge and a delightful seriousness.
