Description
Champagne R. Pouillon Le Montgruguet 1er Cru Extra Brut is a unique expression of Champenoise viticulture, standing out for its elegance and complexity. This sparkling wine is a Blanc de Noirs, made exclusively from Pinot Noir (100%), from a unique plot in Mareuil-sur-Ay, known as "Le Montgruguet". This terroir, characterised by its chalky soil and located along the canal and the river Marne, gives the Pinot Noirs exceptional tension and vivacity, while the microclimate of the Marne brings remarkable ripeness to the grapes.
Winemaking
The vinification and ageing of this champagne takes place in oak barrels, using indigenous yeasts. This process gives greater complexity and structure to the wine. R. Pouillon Le Montgruguet 1er Cru Extra Brut is characterised by an extra-brut dosage (3 g/L of sugar), which enhances the purity and aromatic notes of the wine, while maintaining its typicity and distinctive character.
Taste
The flavour profile of R. Pouillon Le Montgruguet 1er Cru Extra Brut is both elegant and floral, with hints of milk chocolate and toasted hazelnuts. Primary aromas include red apple, mandarin, lemon zest, raspberry and dried strawberry. Over time, it evolves into notes of toast, brioche and chalky minerals. The palate is medium-bodied with high acidity, featuring flavours of white flowers, citrus fruits, red apple peel, chalky minerals, herbaceous spices and nuts. It has a medium-long, savoury finish, with red fruit highlights.
