R. Pouillon Les Blanchiens 1er Cru Brut Nature is an exceptional champagne that represents the essence and DNA of the Fabrice Pouillon winery. This vintage sparkling wine is a tribute to a plot of land particularly dear to Fabrice Pouillon's father, located in the Mareuil-sur-Aÿ region. The cuvée Les Blanchiens is distinguished by its balance and complexity, reflecting the perfection of its terroir.
Winemaking
R. Pouillon Les Blanchiens 1er Cru Brut Nature is a blend of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir, from the Les Blanchiens plot, located at an altitude of 170 metres on clay-limestone soils. Each variety is vinified separately in oak barrels, using indigenous yeasts and a batonnage process. The ageing in barrels adds roundness and complexity to the wine. After fermentation, the wine spends a period of 5 years on the lees before being bottled without dosage (Brut Nature). It is produced in limited quantities, with production varying between 2,500 and 4,000 bottles depending on the vintage.
Taste
R. Pouillon Les Blanchiens 1er Cru Brut Nature is characterised by great complexity, starting with fresh floral notes, such as red rose petals, and aromas of red fruits such as raspberry. Over time, it evolves towards more oxidative and ageing notes, such as oxidised apple, dried fruits, toasted wood and spices. On the palate, it is surprisingly light and creamy, with a notable presence of ageing nuances, but without being as invasive as on the nose. The bubbles are smooth, adding a pleasant texture to the palate.
