Description
Tentenublo Los Corrillos Tinto is an extremely limited production red wine made by Tentenublo Wines under the direction of Roberto Oliván, one of the most innovative figures in the world of Rioja wine. This wine is composed of 50% Garnacha, 40% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano, with grapes coming from very old vineyards, aged between 70 and 100 years. The vineyards are located in the Viñaspre region, with soils that combine marl and sandstone, under a climate with an Atlantic influence. These vineyards are worked under a philosophy of minimum intervention, allowing the vines to grow in a natural environment and without intensive tillage.
Winemaking
The winemaking of Tentenublo Los Corrillos Tinto is carried out in the traditional way. After a manual harvest in boxes of 15 kilos, the whole bunches are fermented in vats, by means of spontaneous fermentation. The wine is aged for eight months in French oak second wine barrels, without racking, which allows the wine to retain much of its primary character and freshness.
Taste
In terms of taste, Tentenublo Los Corrillos Tinto stands out for its great concentration in the mouth and its austere tannins. Aromas of black fruits are perceived on the nose, while the palate develops a chalky texture and a good acidity that brings freshness. With time, the aromas evolve towards floral nuances, especially violets, adding complexity to the wine. This wine improves with oxygenation, so it is recommended to decant it before serving.
