Description

In Northern Catalonia - that harsh Roussillon where the Tramontana sweeps away the clouds and dries the vines like a whip - the brothers Benoît and Sébastien Danjou have built their identity on restraint. Danjou Banessy Supernova Rouge was not born to "impress", but to translate a landscape : vineyards worked with organic and biodynamic agriculture, biodiversity all around, and a philosophy of minimal intervention where the value lies in not spoiling what the land already gives. Their bravest gesture is precisely that: in a region capable of dense and sunny reds, they opt for transparency, for a natural wine that moves with lightness and precision. The cuvée is based mainly on Monastrell, accompanied by Garnacha, looking for clean fruit, tension and a character more "thirsty" than muscular.

Winemaking

In Danjou Banessy Supernova Rouge, the grapes enter the winery with the idea of preserving what is alive: harvesting focused on freshness, careful selection, and fermentations with minimal intervention in the natural line of the domaine, limiting sulphur and taking care of the timing. Ageing is brief and deliberately discreet: around 6 months, more to refine texture than to mark wood aromas. The result is bottled for purity, allowing the wine to retain its direct energy, without make-up.

Taste

Don't let the name fool you: Danjou Banessy Supernova Rouge doesn't burst, it illuminates. On the nose, crisp red fruit-cherry and strawberry-with a hint of dried herbs and clean air, more Mediterranean than gourmand. The palate is fresh and straight on the palate, with a salivating acidity and immediate juiciness; the fine tannin is gentle, leathery rather than punchy. The texture is fluid, almost silky, and yet there is a thread of minerality that tidies up the finish and makes it very drinkable, refreshing, inviting the next sip. It is a red wine that accompanies without imposing itself: luminous, precise, with that slightly wild elegance that only appears when the wine speaks more quietly.
