Rocketing out of the glass with a generous, robust and concentrated inky core, the 2019 Impulsivo is juicy and broad-shouldered as it displays exotic spices with notions of plum jus. Full-bodied and fresh, this gorgeous Tempranillo somersaults across the mid-palate, offering a balanced structure with fine-grained tannins and succulent acidity before concluding with a generous and long-lingering finish. Give it one more year in the bottle, and enjoy it over the next 15 years. Bravo! I’m not spitting this out.

Description
Cayuse Impulsivo has found its home in the heart of Oregon's Walla Walla Valley. The Tempranillo vines were planted in 2000 in the stony soil of the En Chamberlin parcel. This parcel, which covers only 1.4 hectares, is home not only to Tempranillo, but also to varieties such as Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. All these vineyards are cultivated according to biodynamic practices.
Winemaking
After fermentation with indigenous yeasts in cement tanks, the wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (50% new).
Taste
Cayuse Impulsivo is a masterful example of what a Tempranillo can offer outside its native land. It has a ruby colour with violet edges. On the nose, it displays a range of aromas of black cherry, cassis and plum. These aromas are interwoven with earthy, mineral notes and a distinctive touch of cedar. On the palate, it is a wine with character: powerful and with firm tannins that, with time, promise to soften. In spite of its strength, it does not leave aside freshness, showing also a marked salinity. It is a complex and unique wine, which will undoubtedly gain in elegance after a few years in the cellar.
