Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Always a favorite of mine, the 2022 Tabuérniga, produced with the field blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano, fermented in open-top 3,000-liter oak vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in 1,200-liter foudres for 14 to 16 months. It started quite shy, a little closed, perhaps a little more reductive but in a way that it gives it seriousness. It is a serious red indeed, subtle and insinuating, complex and nuanced, but it does require attention, as it seems to whisper in a low voice in a way I like very much. It comes in at 14% alcohol, with a pH of 3.73 and 4.25 grams of acidity. It has some austerity, but it's all there and in place; it does not show any signs of excess or the heat and drought from the year. 3,566 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2024.

Description
Tabuerniga is an exclusive crianza red wine made in the historic and beautiful village of Labastida in Rioja Alavesa by the Compañía de Telmo Rodríguez. This wine is a blend of Tempranillo (mostly Tempranillo), Garnacha and Graciano grape varieties.
These varieties come from small vineyards that are very special to Telmo Rodríguez, located in an impressive landscape of terraces that reach between 540 and 630 metres above sea level and where the grapes are grown organically, respecting tradition.
This magnificent wine is the perfect accompaniment to roast meats, stews and vegetable stews.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand and quality grapes are obtained, with a careful selection of bunches in the vineyard itself.
In the winery, the must is fermented in open oak vats with indigenous yeasts and then aged for 14 to 16 months in oak foudres, following the strictest tradition of the area.
Taste
Tabuerniga is an exclusive red wine with spicy notes, floral touches and a fruity background. The tannins are soft, it has good acidity, balance and a long, persistent finish.
An elegant, fine and very subtle wine.
Tabuerniga comes from the most beautiful vineyard in La Rioja, cultivated organically and respecting the environment. The fruits of this vineyard produce a sober and austere wine, very distinguished.
It is a refined crianza red wine, with a sense of harmony and depth that place it among the best of the Rioja Alavesa wines.
And you, have you tried it yet? Don't wait any longer, you'll love it!
