R. Pouillon Grande Vallée Extra Brut is a champagne that stands out for its emblematic and accessible character, representing the regional vision of Champagne. This wine is a synthesis of the Mareuil winemaker's philosophy of viticulture and winemaking, reflecting the spirit of Fabrice Pouillon.
Winemaking
R. Pouillon Grande Vallée Extra Brut is a blend of wines from the current and previous vintages. It is composed of 65% Pinot Noir, 15% Chardonnay and 20% Meunier, from the terroirs of Mareuil, Mutigny, Avenay, Épernay and Festigny. Vinification is carried out in barrels and small vats, and the ageing of the reserve wines takes place in French oak barrels and foudres. This champagne spends 18 to 24 months on the lees before being marketed, with a production of 25,000 to 35,000 bottles depending on the vintage. During shipment, it is dosed with a sugar content of 2 g/L (Extra Brut).
Taste
R. Pouillon Grande Vallée Extra Brut is characterised by a complex and attractive aromatic profile. On the nose, notes of acacia, bread, honey, quince, candied pear and dried fruits unfold, revealing an unusual gourmandise. On the palate, the champagne is silky and balanced, with perfectly controlled acidity. Flavours of yellow fruits and almonds complement a sublime honeyed finish.
