Description
Panevino Girotondo is one of the most unforgettable creations of the anarchic genius of Sardinian natural wine, Gianfranco Manca. Originating from the Sardinia region of Italy, this wine stands out for its uniqueness and authenticity.
Winemaking
Although it is often considered an orange wine, it is in part a rosé wine, given its elaboration with Girò and its contact with the skins for a few hours. The grapes come from old vines located at an altitude of over 700 metres above sea level, cared for using methods that go beyond organic.
Made mainly from 85% Girò grapes, an ancient red variety local to southern Sardinia, and 15% Moscato, this wine benefits from the rich soil composition of sand, clay and shale. Produced under certified organic practices, Panevino Girotondo is a testament to Manca's commitment to sustainability and authenticity. All Panevino wines ferment spontaneously in open wooden vats and are then racked into old barrels where they age for 12 months. In addition, they are aged on the gross lees of the last vintage and other past vintages, ripasso style. Finally, nothing is added or taken away, and it is bottled unclarified, unfiltered and without added sulphur.
Taste
Its flavour is intense, thick, energetic and massively powerful, without losing any agility and freshness. Tasting notes evoke grilled persimmons with cashew nuts and chestnut honey caramel, lavender and quince compote with salted dates and turmeric.
