Description
Muster Sauvignon Vom Opok is an authentic representation of Austrian winemaking tradition, combining a passion for viticulture with meticulous winemaking techniques. Produced from Sauvignon Blanc, this white wine comes from vineyards that are up to 20 years old. The soil in which these grapes grow is known as Opok, a unique combination of limestone and silty clay that gives the wine a distinctive character.
Winemaking
The winemaking of this wine is a careful, artisanal process. The grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed and gently pressed. Fermentation is carried out in 2,400 litre oval oak vats, using indigenous yeasts. After this process, the wine spends approximately 20 months maturing in neutral oak vats. It is bottled without fining or filtering and, most importantly, without adding sulphur.
Taste
Muster Sauvignon Vom Opok is a wine that stands out for its light and fresh taste, with an additional mineral touch that comes from the Opok soil. Notes of citrus, elderflower and wet stones can be appreciated, reflecting the essence of Sauvignon at its most elegant and terroir-bound. Unlike other Sauvignon Blancs from different regions of the world, this Austrian wine departs from the traditional canons.
