Description

A breeze of history and elegance blows through each glass of Louis Jadot Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles Saint-Jacques. This Burgundian jewel is the result of Jadot 's deep respect for the terroir and its commitment to expressing the purity of the nuances of each plot. The Estournelles-Saint-Jacques vineyard, facing south and located just above Lavaux Saint-Jacques, on the Combe de Lavaux fault, offers a privileged setting: calcareous-clayey, steep, stony soils, geological heirs of the great nearby crus such as Chambertin and Mazis-Chambertin. Here, Pinot Noir finds a unique balance between power and precision.

Winemaking

After a rigorous manual selection, the grapes destined for the Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles Saint-Jacques are destemmed and vatted in open vats - wooden or stainless steel - for an extended maceration of 3 to 4 weeks. During fermentation, pigeage is carried out twice a day, allowing a controlled and respectful extraction. The wine is then aged for about 18 months in oak barrels, with a third of the barrels being new. This process allows the tannins to be polished without imposing the wood, achieving a clean, precise expression deeply linked to the unique character of Louis Jadot Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles Saint-Jacques.

Taste

Medium intensity ruby, Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles Saint-Jacques displays crisp aromas of sour cherry, wild raspberry and redcurrant on the nose, intertwined with notes of undergrowth, graphite and a subtle spicy touch. On oxygenation, echoes of bitter cocoa, damp earth and a faint mineral smokiness emerge. The palate is tense, with vibrant acidity and fine but structured tannins. The palate is juicy, precise, with an energy that recalls its altitude and exposure. Long finish, with hints of red fruit, black tea and flint. A Premier Cru that thrills with its balance between delicacy and character, ideal for game dishes, Burgundian stews or roast poultry. A serious, age-worthy wine that exudes the nobility of its origin.
