Description
Allante & Boulanger's La Barde, also known as La Bardette, stands out on the wine scene for its privileged location in Sud-Revermont(Jura), a renowned terroir that shares excellence with domaines such as Domaine Labet. This wine benefits from a unique combination of factors: 90-year-old vineyards, a shallow red clay soil on a hard limestone base, enriched with fossilised sea shells.
Winemaking
The winemaking of La Barde is a carefully orchestrated process, where Savagnin (30%) and Chardonnay (70%) are vinified and aged in 228-litre barrels for 24 months. This technique gives the wine an enviable complexity and structure, where the Savagnin enhances the balance and depth of the Chardonnay, creating a powerful blend, perfectly framed by saline minerals.
Taste
La Barde is a unique sensory experience, marked by intensity and complexity. Its taste palette includes slightly oxidised fermented notes, reminiscent of natural wines, which give it a distinctive character. On the palate, deep buttery and woody notes are complemented by a well-balanced acidity that enhances its structure. The apple aromas add an extra layer of freshness and complexity, making La Barde an exceptionally versatile wine in food pairings, capable of accompanying a wide range of dishes with mastery. This wine, therefore, is not only a testament to the richness of its terroir, but also to the art and precision of its winemaking and ageing.
