Description
Edetària was born from a very clear vision: that Terra Alta could speak with a voice of its own through its soils and historic grape varieties. The Lliberia family works exclusively with their own vineyards—many of which are old—aiming for low yields and a precise understanding of each plot. In Edetària Via Terra Selection White, this philosophy becomes particularly clear: Garnacha Blanca from the Plana de Gandesa, in the Terra Alta DO, a landscape of dry air, intense light and diverse geology where fossilised sand, boulders, clayey silt, marl and limestone subsoils coexist. There is something bold about this approach: not disguising the origin, but refining it, even through the organic and sustainable practices that the winery has made its hallmark.
Production
The grapes for Edetària Via Terra Selection White are harvested by hand and brought to the winery in small crates. There, they are cooled to between 0 and 5 °C and undergo a second selection on the sorting table, ensuring that only fruit with the precise level of ripeness reaches the tank. The wine is crafted from two harvests: a first picking brings freshness and a fruity profile, and a second, some two weeks later, adds volume and structure from Garnacha Blanca. After fermentation, the two batches are blended and Edetària Via Terra Selection White is aged on its natural lees, seeking finesse, delicacy and texture before bottling.
Taste
In the glass, Edetària Via Terra Selection White appears clean, straw-yellow and luminous. The nose avoids easy exuberance: it starts off fresh and juicy, with notes of pear, Melon and a hint of apricot, but a more serious, almost spicy nuance soon emerges, giving it depth. On the palate, it enters with breadth, offering that generous, enveloping sensation so characteristic of Garnacha Blanca, though supported by a very well-integrated acidity that prevents any heaviness. Ripe fruit fills the mid-palate, then gives way to a citrusy, persistent and flavourful finish, with a pleasant roundness and a freshness that cleanses the palate. A Terra Alta white wine with vigour, fruit and length, more gastronomic than merely aromatic.
