There's more rusticity in the 2017 Miñato da Raña, which has earthy aromas and flavors and an iron-like note. The label says 'Tinto Rústico,' and it's spot on, as the wine is rustic, made with grapes from really old vines and produced with the methods of yesteryear. It's a blend of approximately 60% Mencía, 30% Garnacha Tintorera and 10% white grapes (Palomino and Godello). The full clusters were foot trodden in two used 600-liter oak vats and fermented and macerated for some 20 days. It was pressed and racked into 500-liter barrels, where it underwent malolactic and nine months aging with the lees. It has some dusty tannins and an earthy texture. Only 661 bottles were filled in June 2018.
