Description
Principiano Ferdinando Barolo Serralunga is an authentic expression of the Serralunga D'Alba territory. This wine stands out for its beautiful deep garnet colour, reflecting the richness and depth of the Piedmont region. Produced by the Ferdinando Principiano winery, this Barolo is the result of a meticulous selection of Nebbiolo grapes grown on 3.5 hectares of land in the Boscareto valley in Serralunga d'Alba.
Winemaking
The agronomic management of the vineyards is impeccable, avoiding the use of any chemical substances. Although not officially certified, the agriculture practised can be considered organic in all respects. The grapes are harvested at the beginning of October, paying special attention to the productive balance of the plant and the correct ripeness of the grapes. Once harvested, the grapes are crushed and fermented without commercial yeasts and without sulphur for approximately one month. The wine is aged for twenty-four months in 20 and 40-hectolitre barrels, culminating in the approximately 20,000 bottles produced.
Taste
Principiano Ferdinando Barolo Serralunga is a wine that enchants from the first sip. Its well-developed, ripe nose is a true reflection of the vintage, with notes of ripe red fruits, spices, citrus and flowers. On the palate, the wine shows pace and progression, with warmth and fruit complemented by plenty of flesh and savoury tannins. This is a Barolo of good weight, with pleasing floral and fleshy returns, culminating in a decisive, lingering finish.
