Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The village red from Laguardia 2019 Las Viñas de Eusebio was produced with a blend of Tempranillo with 15% Graciano fermented with 20% full clusters and matured in a combination of 225-, 300-, 500- and 600-liter oak barrels, 15% of them new, for a period of 28 months. For Rivière, this follows the style of 2016, perhaps with a little more volume; it's complex and polished with fine tannins and a seamless palate. It has a slightly iron-like note that made it austere, and it has an earthy touch in the palate. A serious wine that will see the last vintage in 2020. 5,500 bottles were filled in February 2022.

Features

Description

From a terroir worked in Laguardia and Navaridas, Las Viñas de Eusebio are considered very special in La Rioja. And although it is true that the vines are relatively new, they have been organically farmed and contain significant features that give this wine outstanding characteristics.
It is so named because it is made in order to dedicate it to Eusebio Santamaría. Moreover, the most recent vintages do not score below 93 Parker points.

Winemaking

This wine is made with no less than Tempranillo and Graciano grapes from three sections located in Laguardia. The soils are calcareous combined with sandstone, and are at least 15 years old, at an altitude of over 650 metres above sea level.
Ageing lasts 18 months, in which new oak is used, and before bottling it undergoes a thorough filtering.

Taste

Las Viñas de Eusebio is a complex yet fine coupage. It has a classic profile, full of spices and fruity notes. When you taste it you immediately perceive the maturity of the impeccable winemaking process, as it incorporates current tannins, delighting you with a finish that is both fleshy and balanced!

An exceptional wine quite loyal to the terroir.

Due to its properties endowed by the sharpness of La Rioja, this wine proves that there is room for many senses in a bottle. It offers a very curious acid sensation, as its tannins give an excellent style to the length of the wine.
Would you like to taste a slender wine with flinty touches? Go for it!
