Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
There is no 2017 (or 2019), so we jumped to the 2018 Navazos-Niepoort (and the 2020 too), a textbook example of the category that is still not allowed to wear the Sherry/Jerez appellation of unfortified white wines aged under flor. 2018 was a cooler and rainier year, but winemaker Eduardo Ojeda talked about a good vintage, produced in the same style and following the same method and with the same Palomino grapes from Macharnudo in Jerez. These wines seem to put on weight with years in bottle, and the chalky character from the soils gets more evident. It has a dry finish. I guess this is going to age really well and be among the finest vintages for this wine. 4,000 bottles were filled in 2019.

Description
Niepoort Navazos Blanco: A unique collaboration between Dirk Niepoort and Equipo Navazos results in this white wine, made from 100% Palomino Fino grapes. These grapes come from one of the historic Albariza vineyards, located in the Spanish region of Jerez de La Frontera.
Winemaking
Following the rigorous criteria of the best winemaking techniques of two centuries ago, the grapes were fermented with indigenous yeasts in 40 year old American oak barrels. The wine was then aged without fortification, under veil, at a controlled temperature for 10 months. The barrels were filled to 5/6 of their capacity (500 l of 600 l) to allow the yeasts to develop. Malolactic fermentation was not carried out.
Taste
Niepoort Navazos Blanco is a different wine, vibrant, fresh and saline. It stands out for showing the pure expression of the chalky soil. It is the perfect accompaniment for all kinds of "tapas", showing its best version always accompanied by food. Despite being a full-bodied wine, it is not heavy, and although it is dry, it is not aggressive. Its tasting notes reveal typical Jerez aromas, with hints of limestone and chalk dust.
