Sommelier Paul Marchand-Perarnau and oenologist Willy Roulendes are two wine lovers who have dedicated their lives to their profession.
In 2014, under the brand name AMI (friend in French), they launched the Domaine AMI winery project in the Meranges Valley, south of the Côte de Beaune (Burgundy).
There, both friends are dedicated to making fun and very pure wines for the enjoyment of wine lovers.
A story of a wine cellar linked to a great friendship.
Domaine AMI Winery was born as an initiative between two great friends: Paul Marchand-Perarnau and Willy Roulendes.
The two met and worked together at Clos du Moulin aux Moines in Auxey Durresses (where Willy continues as head winemaker), before Paul moved to Provence to work at Domaine Hauvette.
Paul was previously a sommelier, has a background in agriculture and viticulture, and spent some time selling wine for Dynamic Vines in London.
Paul is an excellent blind taster, has a discerning palate, trained in wine tasting in London and Paris, has extensive experience, as well as a penchant for wines with character.
Willy the winemaker has forged a wealth of experience in Burgundy such as at the De Montille estate and even at the Clos du Moulin aux Moines.
Willy has 20 years of winemaking experience. He can now fully express his talent within the AMI domaine.
Shortly after being separated, they realised that they wanted to work together again and make wines on their own. Thus AMI was born, with its first vintage made in 2014.
AMI Winery Philosophy
AMI' s aim is to produce wines with a special personality, charisma and an attractive profile that stand out from other wines. An approach that often gives rise to daring and delicious blends.
A bit like the relationship of these original winegrowers, born from a coupage between two grape varieties that represent a perfect combination.
AMI means friend in French, and this friendship extends to those involved in the entire winemaking process.
Vineyards
Domaine AMI farms 4 hectares of vineyards in the Côte de Beaune, near Meranges. The wines of the Burgundy region come directly from their own vineyards while the others come from the exclusively organic harvests of their fellow winegrowers and friends who accompany them.
The AMI estate stands out for its detailed cellar work under an atypical approach to coupage or blending, combining indigenous varieties such as Chardonnay, Aligoté, Pinot Noir and southern varieties Gamay, Grenache and Syrah, among others.
Their "natural" wines are magnificent and appetising, with fruity aromas and a lot of delicacy, the main characteristics of this renowned winery being the know-how and quality of their wines.
And you, do you know some of the unbeatable wines of this winery? Leave us your comments.
