The off-dry 2023 Riesling Zeltinger Himmelreich Kabinett (Green Capsule) is still sulfurous on the nose but precise, fresh and provided with ripe, elegant fruit. Textured and refined on the palate, this is is a light, savory and crispy Kabinett with intense fruit, extract and a still very young and grippy finish. It should be aged for at least another 3-4 years. 9.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in January 2026 (AP 44 24).

Description
Markus Molitor is obsessed with one idea: that the Mosel should taste of the vineyard, not of artificial enhancements. When he took the helm of the family winery, his bold decision was to go against the grain: more hand-picking, more single-vineyard wines and less haste, even if that meant lower yields and endless harvests on almost vertical slopes. In Zeltinger Himmelreich, a classic vineyard in the Mittelmosel, slate dominates like an electric drum kit: dark, cold and stony soils that give the Riesling a saline tension and a finesse that is impossible to imitate. This wine is 100% Riesling, and the Kabinett style here is not ‘light’; it is liquid precision: restrained fruit, delicate acidity and an elegance that stretches like a thread.
Production
The harvest is carried out by hand with strict selection for Markus Molitor Zeltinger Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett. After gentle pressing, the must ferments slowly at a low temperature in stainless steel, seeking aromatic purity and a clear expression of the terroir. The wine rests on fine lees to gain texture without losing its edge, and is bottled on the estate. The result is a Riesling Kabinett of moderate alcohol, with finely integrated sweetness (semi-dry) that does not weigh down: it refines.
Taste
Upon opening the Markus Molitor Zeltinger Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett, a slight youthful reduction may be apparent: let it breathe and the profile becomes more defined. The nose offers sharp citrus notes (lime, grapefruit), green apple and a hint of yellow fruit, always against a backdrop of wet stone and flint. On the palate it is juicy and fresh, with a crisp, clean acidity; the sweetness merely rounds off the edge, without masking the minerality. The finish leaves a hint of salinity, delicate herbs and a dry, vibrant length that invites another sip.
