Description

López de Haro Classica Rosado Gran Reserva is a tribute to the Rioja winemaking tradition and an example of sophistication that breathes history in every drop. Coming from the Bodega Hacienda López de Haro, founded in 2003 and located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, in the Rioja Alta, this rosé wine stands as a testament to the dedicated work of the winery, which has managed to combine the best of its old vineyards with modern techniques.
López de Haro Classica Rosado Gran Reserva is made from Garnacha and Viura grapes grown in the Alto Najerilla, at the foot of the imposing Sierra de la Demanda. The vines, planted in goblet-trained vines of considerable age, are planted on clay-ferrous terraces, soils that provide mineral richness and retain moisture well, essential for optimal grape ripening.

Winemaking

The grapes are harvested by hand in a single day, at the end of September, carefully selecting the bunches at their ideal ripening point. Subsequently, the grapes undergo a cold maceration process for 24 to 48 hours at around 10 °C, extracting a bright must which undergoes controlled fermentation at 16 °C for 20 days in stainless steel tanks.
Ageing is a distinctive aspect of this rosé. It spends four years in Bordeaux barrels of French and Eastern European oak, mostly first use, allowing the nuances of vanilla, coconut and a touch of hay to integrate perfectly. The wine then rests in the bottle, consolidating its complexity and elegance.

Taste

On the palate, López de Haro Classica Rosado Gran Reserva unfolds with a broad, silky entry that captivates from the first sip. The acidity is balanced, which enhances its freshness and structure. Notes of vanilla and coconut, a legacy of its long ageing in oak, combine with hints of grapefruit, orange peel and a subtle background of hay. The finish is long and elegant, with a slight salinity that gives it a unique character and a persistent aftertaste.
Its ageing capacity is remarkable, so it will continue to evolve and offer new dimensions as time goes by, being ideal both to enjoy now and to keep in your personal cellar.
The experience of tasting this rosé is, without a doubt, a sensory journey to the heart of Rioja, a reminder that elegance and tradition can be bottled to be enjoyed with every sip.
