Description
López de Haro Classica Blanco Gran Reserva is a tribute to the great aged white wines of Rioja. This wine is born from the tradition and dedication of the Hacienda López de Haro winery, located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, in the prestigious Rioja Alta region. Founded in 2003, the winery is part of the Vintae company and stands in a privileged setting surrounded by centuries-old vineyards.
López de Haro Classica Blanco Gran Reserva is made from a blend of Viura (majority), Malvasía and Garnacha Blanca grapes from old bush vines, whose average age is around 65 years old. These vineyards are located on limestone soils and clay-ferrous terraces of the Sonsierra and Alto Najerilla, facing north and located at a high altitude, which favours a slow and complex ripening.
Winemaking
The elaboration and ageing of López de Haro Classica Blanco Gran Reserva is a meticulous process: after the manual harvest, fermentation is carried out in a single tank, using indigenous yeasts at controlled temperatures. Ageing is carried out in French and Eastern European Bordeaux oak barrels, divided into thirds according to their use (new, one-use and two-use). This process lasts three years in barrel, followed by a further three years in bottle to ensure a harmonious evolution.
Taste
In the mouth, López de Haro Classica Blanco Gran Reserva stands out for its unctuousness and glyceric character. From the first sip, you can appreciate its well-defined structure and its acidity that provides freshness and a saline touch. Notes of white fruits such as pear and hints of stone fruits, especially apricot, intertwine with a subtle hint of honey and sweet spices. Full-bodied and textured on the palate, rounded by the ageing that leaves an impression of roasted character and lingering elegance. The finish, long and balanced, is maintained on a base of acidity with light bitterness that invites further tasting.
This wine, with its combination of freshness, complexity and persistence, is a faithful representative of the great Rioja whites that stand the test of time and the evolution of the most demanding palates.
