Description
Alexandre Jouveaux O is a sublime expression of natural and organic viticulture. Produced in the small village of Uchizy, in the Mâconnais region of Burgundy, this white wine stands out for its 100% Chardonnay composition. The grapes come from old vineyards, some planted since 1910, on chalky clay soils. These vineyards are tended according to biodynamic principles, reflecting a deep commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly farming practices.
Winemaking
The winemaking of Jouveaux O is a testament to purity and minimal intervention. Fermentation is completely natural, and the wine is aged in old barrels without fining, filtering or the addition of SO2. This approach brings out the purity and power of the Chardonnay, offering a wine of great soul and character. Ageing in large 1,200 litre foudres for two years before bottling contributes to the wine's complexity and depth.
Taste
Jouveaux O reveals a rich and diverse aromatic palette. Aromas of citrus, white fruits and white flowers intertwine with notes of dried saffron, incense, nashi pear, yuzu zest and salted cashew butter. The mouthfeel is lively and refreshing, with a warmer, softer fruit profile in some vintages. The slightly oxidative nature of the wine adds a layer of complexity, enhancing flavours of salt, nuts and spice. This wine is ideal to enjoy in moments of reflection or with good cheese and bread.
