Description
J.J. Confuron Bourgogne Aligoté Aux Plantes originates from a Burgundian estate that has always prioritised the authenticity of the soil over artificiality. Jean-Jacques Confuron, in Prémeaux-Prissey, has been working for decades with a precise, patient approach that is deeply rooted in the land. In a Burgundy where Aligoté has so often been treated as a secondary variety, here it is accorded the status of a terroir wine, without being embellished or pushed towards an easy fruitiness. That in itself is a statement of character. Aux Plantes is made from 100% Aligoté and comes from vines planted on clay and limestone soils within the Bourgogne Aligoté appellation, where the cool climate and slow ripening allow the wine to retain its tension, clarity and a very pure expression of its origin.
Winemaking
The winemaking process is guided by a philosophy of restraint and purity. The grapes are harvested with care to preserve their natural freshness, and the vinification aims to keep the essence of the variety intact. There is no desire to over-embellish the wine, but rather to let it speak for itself clearly. Ageing takes place in tanks, with no prominence given to oak, precisely to respect the acidity, the verticality and that direct profile that defines a Burgundy white wine whenit is well-crafted. Everything about this wine points to a single idea: to preserve its vigour, transparency and a frank expression of the terroir.
Taste
In the glass, J.J. Confuron Bourgogne Aligoté Aux Plantes is refined, straightforward and precise. The nose offers crisp citrus notes— lemon and grapefruit—alongside green apple, fresh pear and a very subtle hint of white flowers. Underlying this is a minerality of wet stone and crushed shell, which lends it depth and austerity. On the palate, it is lively, sharp and vibrant, with an electric acidity that races across the palate with energy. It does not seek breadth or unctuousness, but rather tension, purity and length. The finish leaves echoes of white fruit, a hint of candied lemon and a chalky salinity that refreshes and refines the whole. A serious, pure and food-friendly white wine, more about precision than indulgence.
