Description
Foradori Morei wine is a pure and authentic expression of Teroldego, a red grape variety that has found its home in the Trentino region of Italy. This wine comes specifically from the "Morei" plot, which in local dialect means "dark". This 2.5 hectare plot is located in Campo Rotaliano, a plateau near the winery in the foothills of the Dolomites. The vines were planted in 1984 by Elisabetta Foradori, using the guyot planting method from mass cuttings.
Winemaking
The winemaking of this wine is a reflection of dedication and respect for nature. It is cultivated following certified biodynamic practices and the grapes are harvested by hand. Once harvested, the grapes are destemmed and deposited directly into clay amphorae (J. Padilla jars in Spain) for spontaneous fermentation without sulphur with the top open. Subsequently, the amphorae are closed and the wine macerates for 6-8 months. Finally, it is bottled without fining or filtering, adding only a small dose of sulphur.
Taste
Foradori Morei is a young wine, with a garnet colour with violet hues. On the nose, it offers intense aromas of forest earth, leather and a mix of herbs. With time, as it aerates in the glass, notes of black fruits, hints of barnyard and floral touches emerge. On the palate, more black fruits and liquorice are perceived, accompanied by medium-high acidity and medium-high tannins. Although it can be enjoyed now, especially if decanted for a few hours, its potential will be fully revealed in a few years, promising an even richer and more complex evolution.
