Description
El Canto del Mirlo is a red wine produced by Barranco Oscuro, a winery located in southern Spain, near the Sierra Nevada National Park. This wine is made from vines planted in 1996 in vineyards located at an average altitude of 1290 metres. The soils of these vineyards are schist and clay, and all crops are cultivated naturally without the use of herbicides, pesticides or synthetic fertilisers. The grapes are harvested by hand, selecting only the healthiest and best quality grapes.
Winemaking
The winemaking process of El Canto del Mirlo includes a maceration of the destemmed grapes in stainless steel tanks, followed by spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation takes place naturally during the ageing period in barrels. This wine does not contain any additives or preservatives and has not undergone any accelerated stabilisation processes.
Taste
Canto del Mirlo has a fresh, dry and mineral taste, with a good structure and an elegant structure. On the nose, it offers intense fruit aromas of plum, cherry, blackcurrant, raspberry and blueberry, accompanied by spicy notes, cocoa and leather, and a mineral background of graphite. These components combine to offer a complex and balanced experience that reflects the unique terroir of the Barranco Oscuro vineyards.
