Description

In the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise, in Bouzeron, a philosophy is cultivated that privileges the honesty of the terroir over ostentation. Domaine De Villaine, guided by the vision of Aubert de Villaine - historical figure of Romanée-Conti - has made sensitivity to the environment its form of quiet resistance. Domaine De Villaine Bourgogne La Fortune, made from Pinot Noir from 20 to 25 year old vines planted on clay and limestone soils, was born from the desire to reveal the purest expression of this discreet corner of Burgundy. The anecdote goes that in a vintage marked by rain, Aubert decided not to correct with new wood or invasive techniques, trusting that the wine would find balance in its austerity. This trust in nature can be perceived in every glass.

Winemaking

Domaine De Villaine Bourgogne La Fortune is made from a manual harvest with rigorous selection in the vineyard. The grapes are fermented in wooden tanks with 40% whole bunches, which provides structure without losing freshness. Maceration lasts 10 to 12 days, seeking fine tannins from the skins and a light touch of the seeds and stalks. The wine is aged for 10 to 12 months, without new barrels, thus maintaining its transparent and mineral character. This method favours finesse over volume.

Taste

Domaine De Villaine Bourgogne La Fortune presents itself with a subtle nose, where red fruits - wild strawberry, cherry, sour raspberry - intertwine with notes of violet, damp earth and a hint of mild spice. It does not seek to dazzle, but to seduce with its quiet elegance. The palate is agile, with polished tannins and an acidity that adds rhythm. In vintages, a sensation of crisp fruitiness and mineral finish predominates, while in cooler years there are herbal nuances, rhubarb and vibrant tension. The texture is delicate, almost airy, and the long, refreshing finish leaves an echo of sour cherry and wet stone. This is Pinot Noir without make-up, pure, juicy and precise. Ideal for those seeking the most authentic and subtle essence of Burgundy, off the beaten track.
