Description
Christian Tschida Himmel auf Erden II Maischevergoren is an orange wine that represents the essence of skin contact vinification, known as Maischevergoren. This technique is especially prominent when it comes to the Muscat varieties that Christian uses, as these grapes have unique and concentrated flavours on their skins. Delicacy in the process is essential, and the grapes are pressed with the gentleness of a handshake.
Winemaking
The grapes used for this wine are Scheurebe and various Muscat clones, including Gelber Muskateller and Goldmuskateller. These grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed and gently crushed with the foot. Part of the skins are left in contact with the must for 2 weeks, while another part is left for 4 weeks, resulting in Christian's unique orange wine. Fermentation is carried out in large vats with indigenous yeasts and without racking. Subsequently, the wine is aged for one year in 500 to 1,500 litre oak vats and bottled without fining or filtering, and without the addition of sulphur.
Taste
Christian Tschida Himmel auf Erden II Maischevergoren exudes an impressive floral bouquet with abundant notes of orange and apricot peel, peach, grapefruit, baked apple and lemongrass, elderflower, jasmine and pineapple. Its medium body and light tannic astringency give it exceptional structure, which is complemented by nuances of ginger, honey, stone minerality, hay and yeast in the aftertaste. This wine has a special way of captivating the senses and leaving a lasting impression on the palate.
