Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The Ceretto 2013 Barbaresco Asili shows very nicely. The wine presents a slightly herbal personality with dried sage and rosemary that add to the balsamic intensity of the bouquet. Those characteristics contribute to a sense of vertical buoyancy and serve to underline the integrity of the fruit and oak-driven spice that are at the base of this wine. The results show impressive depth and lingering Nebbiolo flavors.

Features

Description

Ceretto Barbaresco Asili comes from the Piedmont region of Italy. This wine expression is the result of the passion and tradition of Bricco Asili, the first winery built by Bruno and Marcello Ceretto in 1973. Inspired by the French château model, the idea was to create a place dedicated to vinification and ageing, built precisely in the place of origin of the grapes. Today, grapes from three exceptional climates are processed: Bernadot de Treiso, Gallina de Neive and Asili de Barbaresco.

Winemaking

The wine is made exclusively from the Nebbiolo variety, an iconic grape of the region. This variety is known for its ability to produce wines with an unmistakable personality and character. The grapes selected for this wine are of the highest quality. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately transported to the winery where they are carefully selected and processed. Fermentation is carried out in the winery at a controlled temperature, guaranteeing the preservation of the characteristic aromas and flavours of the variety.

Taste

Ceretto Barbaresco Asili presents itself in the glass with an intense ruby red colour, which transitions to garnet red at the rim when the glass is tilted. On the nose, this wine displays a rich aromatic palette that includes notes of lavender, blackberries, lilies, rose and violets. On the palate, it is characterised by its incredibly dense and fleshy texture, but at the same time shows a balanced acidity that gives it freshness and smoothness. The finish is long, leaving an aftertaste that reflects the quality and depth of this wine.
