What is the purpose of aging rosé wines? While it is true that the existence of rosé wines is to maintain the concept of fruit, vibrant freshness and innocence, aged rosé wines are conceived or were once made with the intention of being closer to a red wine than a white wine in terms of structure. Wines with a good concentration of backbone acidity that will keep the wine's qualities intact for subsequent bottle aging.

The best examples are generally single-varietal Garnacha wines, although sometimes small proportions of white grapes are used to provide extra acidity.
