Description

From the alluvial plains surrounding Turckheim, in the heart of Alsace, comes Zind Humbrecht Pinot Gris Turckheim, a cuvée that reflects Olivier Humbrecht's quest for purity and varietal expression. This wine does not come from the coveted hillside vineyards, but from less prestigious but equally expressive gravel and sandy plots surrounding the winery. With full sun exposure and well-drained soils, these vines allow for ideal ripeness, yielding a rich Pinot Gris, but with vibrant internal tension. Under the winery's biodynamic approach, every intervention in the vineyard is done with absolute respect for the natural rhythm of the vine and soil, seeking balance rather than exuberance.

Winemaking

The grapes are harvested by hand, with strict selection in the field. The perfectly ripe grapes are slowly pressed to extract a clean and aromatic must. The fermentation of Zind Humbrecht Pinot Gris Turckheim takes place with indigenous yeasts, partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in large, century-old oak vats, where the wine matures for 12 months on its fine lees. This type of ageing preserves the varietal energy of the Pinot Gris, while providing texture and finesse, without overloading the wine with oak. Before bottling, the wine is gently filtered, maintaining the wine's identity as much as possible.

Taste

On the nose, Zind Humbrecht Pinot Gris Turckheim shows a delicate floral profile -acacia, peony, almond blossom-with a background of ripe white fruit, such as pear and apricot. The palate is ample, enveloping but precise, with an acidity that adds tension and length. The texture is creamy, but without sweetness, with a dry, slightly spicy finish and mineral echoes. Very balanced, it is a wine that harmonises elegance and character, ideal as an aperitif or with summer dishes such as white fish, grilled vegetables or mixed salads. A frank and direct expression of Alsatian Pinot Gris, without artifice.
