Description

Ever since Olivier Humbrecht conceived this version of Zind Humbrecht Pinot Blanc, based on the traditional Pinot Blanc-Auxerrois blend, he has insisted that it is not a complacent white, but an honest expression of the soils of Alsace. Some of the grapes come from iconic vineyards such as Herrenweg and Rotenberg, where gravel, clay and silt soils alternate, with a continental climate that favours slow and precise ripening. In this demanding landscape, Humbrecht is committed to rigorous biodynamic viticulture, convinced that the land - when respected - speaks for itself in every glass.

Winemaking

The grapes that give rise to Zind Humbrecht Pinot Blanc, harvested by hand, are pressed slowly in extended cycles, seeking softness and precision. Clarification is minimal, just enough to preserve indigenous yeasts and natural compounds that provide texture and complexity. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place spontaneously in 40-year-old French oak barrels, where the wine rests on the lees for eight months. It is not over-filtered or manipulated for surface brightness: what is bottled is a direct expression of the vineyard.

Taste

Zind Humbrecht Pinot Blanc is delicate but profound on the nose: white fruits such as pear and apple, a faint citrus trace of lime and lemon zest, and notes of raw almond and white flowers. With time, hints of wet stone and subtle echoes of yeast emerge. On the palate, the attack is fresh and lively, supported by a precise acidity that runs cleanly across the palate. The texture, gently creamy from the lees work, balances the wine's natural tension. The finish is dry, saline and persistent, with a mineral echo reminiscent of the Alsatian soil.

Zind Humbrecht Pinot Blanc is a serious, unadorned white, ideal for those looking for depth, purity and authenticity. It is an elegant accompaniment to seafood, trout or light Alpine dishes.
