Description

Werlitsch Drei Generationen is a unique expression from the Südsteiermark region of Austria. This wine is a blend of several grape varieties that have been carefully selected and combined to create a unique experience.
The varieties that make up this wine are Gelber Muskateller, Morillon, Sauvignon blanc, Traminer and Welschriesling.

Winemaking

Biodynamic vinification is carried out in the vineyards. In the winery, the grapes are macerated with their skins and have several days of contact with them. Subsequently, they are pressed and fermented spontaneously in open oak vats of 3,000 litres. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is kept in these vats on its fine lees for the next 18 months.

Taste

Werlitsch Drei Generationen has floral notes from the Muskateller and Traminer. Underneath these notes, however, intense aromas of jasmine, passion fruit, walnut, chestnut and wet flint emerge.
On the palate, papaya is dominant, followed by flavours of orange, apple, pineapple and lychee. As the wine oxygenates, it reveals even more complexity. What is surprising is that aromatic varieties such as Muskateller and Traminer fade behind the exotic ripeness of Welschriesling and Chardonnay.
The mineral, saline and stony finish is a distinctive feature of the Sauvignon Blanc in this blend. It is a wine that certainly benefits from decanting to appreciate all its richness and complexity.
