Description
Tinta Amarela Parcela Valdemedel is a unique expression of Spanish viticulture and enology, created by the Envínate team, composed of Laura Ramos, Jose Martínez, Roberto Santana and Alfonso Torrente. This wine comes from the Parcela Valdemedel, located in the town of Badajoz, Extremadura, a region with a continental climate influenced by the Mediterranean. The 15 year old plot is located 500 metres above sea level and has clay-limestone soils.
Tinta Amarela, also known as Trincadeira in Portugal, is the only variety used in this wine, highlighting its uniqueness and connection with the Alentejo region of Portugal. Envínate's philosophy focuses on allowing each plot to express its unique character in the wine, using traditional methods both in the vineyard and in the winery. Production is limited, with only 102 cases produced.
Winemaking
The winemaking process for Tinta Amarela Parcela Valdemedel includes fermentation with wild yeasts in open plastic vats, with grape treading and maceration for 8 days. Aging is carried out in used 225-litre French oak barrels for 12 months. At bottling, a small amount of SO2 is added, but no fining or filtration is carried out, thus preserving the authenticity and purity of the wine.
Taste
Tinta Amarela Parcela Valdemedel is characterised by a deep cherry colour with a violet rim and a high robe. On the nose, aromas of black fruit compote, toast and marked mineral and balsamic notes are distinguished. On the palate, the wine is voluminous and full-bodied, with superb tannins and a balance that makes it subtle. The flavours of black fruit compote, such as blueberries, combine with hints of smoke, minerality and spices, creating a complex and enriching taste experience.
