Features

Description

Tentenublo Tinto is a wine born from the hands of winemaker Roberto Oliván, who leads the Tentenublo Wines project in the Rioja Alavesa region. This wine stands out for its character and authenticity, and is made from a blend of 60% Tempranillo, 30% Garnacha and 10% Viura, a blend that reflects the rich winemaking tradition of the area. The grapes come from vineyards between 40 and 100 years old, located in the village of Viñaspre, a hamlet of Lanciego, at an altitude of 600 metres above sea level. The soils of these vineyards are sandstone and marl, with a high content of ferrous oxide, which gives the wine its unique character. The vineyards are worked under a minimal intervention viticulture, with respectful and organic practices that allow the terroir to be expressed in its maximum purity.

Winemaking

Tentenublo Tinto is fermented spontaneously in open vats, using indigenous yeasts, which favours a more natural and expressive fermentation. Gentle punch-downs and malolactic fermentation are carried out in French oak barrels and vats. Afterwards, the wine is aged for 8 to 11 months, depending on the vintage, in barrels of different sizes, which gives it greater complexity and elegance. An interesting feature of its production is the subsequent use of concrete tanks, where the wine is refined before bottling.

Taste

Tentenublo Tinto is a wine that on the nose stands out for its intense aromas of ripe red fruits and mountain herbs. In the mouth, it is juicy and complex, with a marked spicy character. Its texture is silky, and the tannins are powerful but well integrated, providing structure and balance. The finish is long, with fruity notes and a mineral touch that makes it persistent and attractive.
The wine has great ageing potential, making it an ideal choice both to enjoy in its youth and to cellar. Its style is a perfect combination of freshness and fruit expression, with a subtle touch of oak, which adds complexity without overpowering the original fruit flavours.
