Description
Roagna Barbaresco Faset is a red wine that comes from the Piedmont region of Italy, specifically from the Barbaresco appellation. This wine is made from the Nebbiolo grape variety, one of the most prestigious and characteristic of this Italian region. The grapes come from the Faset vineyard, located in the municipality of Barbaresco. It is interesting to note that this vineyard is owned by a friend of the Roagna family, and the family has been supervising the work in the vineyard according to their specifications together with the owner.
Winemaking
The viticulture process is meticulous and is done by hand, with organic practices. The soil where these grapes grow is clay with sand, typical of the area, which gives the wine its unique characteristics. Vinification is carried out in large wooden barrels, where fermentation lasts ten days. They use a vat foot made with indigenous yeasts and employ the submerged cap technique, which can last between 60 and 70 days. Afterwards, the wine is aged for 5 years in large neutral oak barrels.
Taste
Roagna Barbaresco Faset presents itself with a smooth texture and flavours reminiscent of cherry and macerated strawberries, which initially brings great pleasure to the palate. However, it also has a solid base of tannins, which promise the future potential of this wine. The finish is fresh, with an echo of red fruits and emerging mineral elements. According to Wine Spectator, this wine will be at its best between 2025 and 2042.
