Description
Peternell Hijo de Puszta is a wine expression that comes to us from Austria, specifically from the Burgenland region, in the Neusiedl am See subzone, Neusiedlersee. This oenological jewel is a creation of the Kollektiv Peternell winery, located in Carnuntum, Petronell-Carnuntum.
The wine is composed of three grape varieties: Pinot gris (40%), Sankt Laurent (40%) and Merlot (20%). These grapes come from vineyards that are around 30 years old, which gives them a special maturity and character. The soil in which these grapes grow is a combination of clay with gravel and clay-limestone, which gives a particular minerality and structure to the wine.
Winemaking
Peternell Hijo de Puszta undergoes a 2-day skin maceration. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out jointly with indigenous yeasts, and the end of this fermentation takes place in the bottle itself. This vinification process gives the wine a remarkable authenticity and purity. Subsequently, the wine is aged for 6 months in the bottle with its fine lees, which adds complexity and a creamy texture.
Taste
Peternell Hijo de Puszta presents itself as a rosé wine, natural and sparkling. Its taste profile is fresh and crisp, making it an ideal choice for those looking for a vibrant and refreshing wine. With an alcohol content of 11.5%, a sulphur content of less than 10 and a residual sugar of less than 2 g/l, this wine is a true representation of its terroir and the minimal intervention philosophy of the Kollektiv Peternell winery.
