Description
Few decisions change a life as much as the one Massimo Marchiori and Antonella Gerosa took when they left their hectic architecture routine in Italy to settle in Bonastre, in the Baix Penedès. There, surrounded by abandoned vineyards, they rediscovered not only a new way of life, but also an ancestral language that springs from the earth: wine. Thus Partida Creus was born, a project that looks back in order to move forward, recovering forgotten native varieties and making wine with absolute respect for nature.
Partida Creus Xarel.lo Ancestral is one of its most authentic jewels. Made from 100% of this white grape -the flagship of the Penedès- grown in poor, well-drained, calcareous soils, this natural sparkling wine reflects the energy of the Mediterranean in every bubble. Bonastre, with its dry climate, constant sea breeze and altitude that balances the ripening of the grapes, is a privileged enclave for obtaining Xarel.lo with vibrant acidity and marked minerality. Massimo and Antonella's philosophy of minimal intervention allows this geographical identity to be expressed without interference: no additives, no fining, no filtering.
Winemaking
The production of Partida Creus Xarel.lo Ancestral begins with a direct pressing that gently extracts the must. Fermentation begins in stainless steel tanks at low temperature using only indigenous yeasts, respecting the microbial ecosystem of the grape. But the key is at the end: the wine is bottled when there is still residual sugar, allowing the fermentation to finish inside the bottle, giving rise naturally to that lively and expressive bubble. It then rests for 10 months on its fine lees, which adds volume, silky texture and a complexity that enriches without hiding its primary freshness.
Taste
Partida Creus Xarel.lo Ancestral awakens on the first sip with a playful, light effervescence, almost as if the wine were breathing. Notes of green apple, citrus peel, fennel and a subtle saline touch intertwine in a vibrant structure, marked by clean acidity and an earthy background that speaks of the vineyard. It is an electric, lively wine that does not seek to impress but to excite. Drinking it is like biting into the Baix Penedès landscape: pure, raw and soulful.
